About Tenuta Il Castelletto
In the green heart of Piedmont, in the middle of the triangle between Milan,
Turin and Genoa is the village of Nizza Monferrato. On a hill just outside the town stands a monumental house. Because of the battlements, the house looks like a small castle. Hence the name: ‘Tenuta Il Castelletto’.
The first inhabitants of this hill were probably the Spaniards who had built a lookout post there in the 17th century. From the estate, you can look miles away into the valley of the Belbo River.
About 200 years ago ‘Il Castelletto’ was built. Later several barns were added. The terrain was used agriculturally until 25 years ago. It was a winery and there were fruit and hazelnut trees dispatched over the field.
Michael and Fijtje bought the house in 2014 after a long search. The house was renovated while preserving all the authentic details. Also, the barns were modernized and transformed into charming spaces. Tenuta Il Castelletto now is a place where guests feel completely at home and where everything is about ‘enjoying‘.

about the town & the Alps
Tenuta il Castelletto is located on the outskirts of the town of Nizza Monferrato. It’s a 20-minute walk and 5 minutes by car, so you’ll be in the center of town in no time.
Nizza Monferrato is a lively provincial town with many restaurants and terraces. In the summer months, it is a lovely town to have a drink.
On a clear day, the view from Tenuta Il Castelletto is spectacular. The green vineyards with the snowy Alps in the background are a feast for the eyes.

Bites, drinks & beautiful conversations
The terrace is the place for nice encounters. Fijtje and Michael are often to be found there and for guests, this central place is a great opportunity to get to know each other. In the shade of the fig tree are lounge sofas with comfortable cushions.
In the adjacent family kitchen, there are coming and going of guests who like to pick up some information while enjoying a nice caffè.
In the converted barn, you will find the room with books, magazines, and games. There are long tables so you can play and do crafts.
Pool
Cooldown & have fun
On top of the hill, with a splendid view over the surrounding vineyards, lies the large swimming pool of 16*5 meters.
On the sun terrace are Italian beach beds. There are large umbrellas so you can lie in the shade. The pool is 1.40 deep and has a slowly descending staircase with wide steps so there is enough space for the little ones to play in the water.
On warmer days it is nice to cool down and enjoy the fresh water. During the school holiday weeks, there are regularly spontaneous ‘evening swimming parties‘ or a children’s disco at the edge of the pool

You can play nicely on the terrain. There are fruit and hazelnut trees that can be picked in abundance. Under the trees, huts can be built and there are all kinds of creatures that are easy to catch. For the active kids, there is a trampoline in the orchard.
Piedmont is known worldwide for its excellent beef. A BBQ should therefore not be missed. The BBQ stands on a magical beautiful spot on the hill.
What could be better than enjoying good food at sunset on an Italian hill? While the kids play games under the big tree, the parents enjoy the view and the optimal BBQ feeling.
